Casement Window Manufacture

Test Projects at 3950

1. Fixed window in 3rd floor stairwell

This is blocked over now. A window there would really make that a nice space. Its an expensive thing to do but I think it would be worth it.

This is a good test window because there's not much reason to make it open-able. We can choose a pane size that works.

  • rough dimensions 39" x 70"
  • double wood lintel with gap in middle

2,3,4. Open-able casements on 3rd floor

These 3 are all blocked over: the first two using glass block, the third is cement block.

  • rough dimensions 37" x 59"
  • double wood lintel with gap in middle

I'd like these 3 to look close to the existing casement windows, described below.

Existing Casement Details

These are from one window at 3950 (East rear 3rd floor).

The outer frame of the moving part has a cross section like this:

IGUs ("Insulated glass units") are expensive! The first price I found would make it $400 in glass for each of our standard windows at the office.
